~ Skies ~

The PhotoHunt for this weekend is 'Skies'
There was some airline used to use the phrase 'Fly the friendly skies' . . .
I'm not sure which one it was
(but I do think it was Years ago, when flying was a bit friendlier)

Even crammed into my tiny seat with a coke and some peanuts,
I am happy to be flying.

Happy Hunting y'all,
Sandi

Next Saturday's PhotoHunt is 'Sunset'

  1. I don't think my comment published. I said: you were on an airplane?! How cool is that! I've never been on one before. :)

  2. Beautiful photo. Was that Pan Am that used to say that or British Airways? I think it was one of those :)

  5. Ref Wikipedia: United resurrected its popular "Fly the Friendly Skies" slogan in September 2013.[57] Until September, 2013, the slogan, adopted after the merger of United and Continental in October 2010, was "Let's fly together". This replaced the slogan "It's time to fly" created in 2004. United's earliest slogan, "The Main Line Airway," emphasized its signature New York-Chicago-San Francisco route, and was replaced in 1965 with "Fly the Friendly Skies". The "friendly skies" tagline was in use until 1996 in its first iteration

  6. Yeah, I remember United Airlines's Fly the Friendly Skies slogan because UA was the airlines I flew on for years when going between Asia and the US. In particular, my route tended to be Penang-Singapore (on a different airlines since United didn't/doesn't fly to Penang), then United all the way from Singapore to Tokyo, Tokyo to Chicago, and finally Tokyo to Philadelphia!

These days, I prefer other airlines though as United planes seem so old fashioned and no frills compared to those of, say, Cathay Pacific!

Anyway, thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. My take on this week's theme is over here:-

  14. First time I flew I thought I was royalty. Last time I flew I thought I was being round up to cattle car.
But it still a quick way of getting some place.
